planning math

How many tacos per person?

The Crown rule of thumb, refined across hundreds of DFW events:

  • · 2–3 tacos per adult
  • · 1–2 tacos per child
  • · Reception with passed apps? Lean to 2.
  • · Dinner with no other entrée? Lean to 3.

A 25-guest taco bar

≈ 75 tacos

Most clients add ~10% buffer for repeat orders. We size proteins, tortillas, and salsas around your final headcount in the quote.

Catering packages

Every package is built around your guest count, venue, and dietary mix. Mix and match — most weddings combine a live taco bar with a churro late-night station.

Catering FAQ

What's included in a Crown taco bar for a party?
A standard Crown taco bar includes 2 proteins (you pick — brisket, quesabirria, chicken tinga, carnitas, al pastor, or veggie), warm flour and corn tortillas, two beans/rice sides, classic toppings (white onion, cilantro, cotija, shredded cheese, lettuce, pico, lime), and three salsas at different heat levels. Drop-off and live-build packages add chips & salsa, churros, and aguas frescas as upgrades.
How many tacos per person should I order for a taco bar?
Plan on 2–3 tacos per adult and 1–2 per child. A 25-guest taco bar usually lands at ~75 tacos. For dinner events with no other entrée, lean toward 3 per adult; for receptions with passed apps, 2 is plenty.
What's the difference between a drop-off taco bar and a live-build taco bar?
Drop-off is family-style — we deliver hot trays of proteins, tortillas, beans, toppings, and salsas, and your guests build their own. Live-build is a staffed station: a Crown chef presses tortillas to order, builds tacos in front of guests, and runs the bar throughout your event. Drop-off is faster and lower-cost; live-build is the showpiece for weddings and big corporate events.
Can guests build their own tacos at the event?
Yes — that's the whole idea. Both drop-off and live-build setups are designed as build-your-own taco bars. Guests pick their proteins, beans, toppings, and salsas at the line, exactly like our restaurant.
Do you offer a taco kit for at-home parties?
At-home taco kits are launching with our June 15, 2026 reopening. You'll be able to order a cold-pack kit (proteins, tortillas, beans, salsas, toppings) for pickup or drop-off — perfect for game days and dinner parties of 6–25. Ask for it at quote time and we'll add you to the launch list.
Do you cater weddings in Dallas and Fort Worth?
Yes — wedding catering across DFW is one of our most-booked services. We're 5.0★ on both WeddingWire and The Knot, and 100% of recent Facebook reviewers recommend us. Live taco bars, quesabirria stations, and full-bar service.
How far in advance should I book taco catering?
For weddings, 6–12 months out is typical. For corporate lunches and drop-off taco bars, we can usually accommodate 5–10 business days out depending on the date.
What's your minimum catering order?
Drop-off catering starts at 25 guests. Full-service and food truck bookings start at 75 guests. Smaller groups can grab pickup pans from our Hurst kitchen.
What areas do you cater?
We cater the full DFW Metroplex — Hurst, Bedford, Euless, North Richland Hills, Colleyville, Keller, Southlake, Grapevine, Arlington, Fort Worth, and Dallas. See your city's page for local venues we frequent.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes — every catering package can be built vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or dairy-free. Tell us at quote time and we'll size proteins and sides accordingly.
